Tick Removal
06/04/08
Nell Brown

A friend of mine (that lives in a wooded area) sent this to me - it works.

*Please forward to anyone with children... or hunters or dogs, or anyone who even steps outside in summer!!**

A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works!!
I had a pediatrician tells me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.
Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me.

Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"  **Please pass on. Everyone needs this helpful hint.**

Star Wars, 2001RWC
15.2 and Under
03/25/08

Jamie McCoy
2001 RWC 15.2 and under gelding and show horse supreme , "Star Wars" was humanely laid to rest, on March 25th, due to complications
from colic.  He will be missed by his family at Twin Oaks Farm and most especially Anissa Gaines who was his owner and friend for many
years.  He was 13 years old and was recently retired to just be a horse, he was loved by all who knew him for his affectionate nature and
eagerness to give all he could when the horse show music played.  He was by Jubilee's Rising Star and an Ebony's Senator mare, small
in size but big in heart, loved by many.

I am from the State of Mississippi and very proud to be part of the RHBAA.  But, I do not understand why a person representing this
State would not want to cooperate with the Chairman of the Judges Committee.  I believe we should all be working together to make
this Association and Breed what it was Ten, Fifteen, Twenty years ago.  I am very disappointed that our Director is not willing to
cooperate in this matter.  If Mr. Street is not willing to cooperate with the Chairman of the Judges Committee, who else is he not
cooperating with and how well are the people from Mississippi being represented?

Thank You

I just wanted to say hello to everyone, we had a ball at the winter meetings. I'll be glad when spring gets here so we can see everyone again.
I posted my trail pleasure horse and my show saddle on the horses for sale. He would really make someone a good horse. In 2006 at the
world celebration he placed 3rd in novice horse & rider, placed 3rd in ladies trail pleasure, and placed 5th in the trail pleasure stake class.
Since I had back surgery I will not be able to ride as much. Also I have my show saddle on there, I have only ridden in it 7 times.
Please check out my horse and saddle on  horses for sale. we will see you in the spring.

Come Ride With Us

Cheryl Miller Hello from Cherokee Trail Ride!
We are a family owned and operated horse trail facility and campground located in northwest AL. We took over the operation i
n June '06. Last year we hosted our first annual North American Trial Ride Conference 30-50 mile ride and also a NATRC Clinic.
We are hoping to open our facility to other organized groups such as yours for either competitive trial rides, endurance rides,
clinics and other events or just plain ol' fun trail riding.  We also cater to groups or families for day rides or vacation trail rides.
We have over 30,000 acres between our land, leased land, and the Freedom Hills Wildlife Management Area that we ride.
We have various trails and difficulty levels to offer to our guests. Our facilities include 55 electric RV hookups (9 also have water),
covered barns with 8 x 10 open stalls, a dining hall, and bathhouses. We serve three meals a day in the dining hall.  We really
enjoyed hosting the NATRC Ride and Clinic last year and meeting the new people and horses.

We would also like to extend an invitation to a representative in your group for a free day ride on our trails so that you can see for
yourself what our trails are like and check out our facilities.  If you would like any more information, please feel free to contact

On behalf of the Pro Trainers I would like to take this avenue to thank everyone who attended our Fun Night Saturday.
A special thank you to all who brought baskets for the auction & items for the silent auction.   We appreciate all of you who
purchased these items and bought tickets.  Four happy individuals came away from the 50/50 Draw Down Giveaway.   It is always
so much fun.  Everyone seemed to have had a great time and for that we are very excited.   Will not call any names but next year
we are going to put some of you on the stage for our free entertainment.  Better still, maybe the talent show at the Spring Show
would be great.  I'll turn your names into the Ladies Auxiliary & they can get in contact with you.

It was very uplifting to see so many at the Pro Trainers General Membership Meeting.   The participation with suggestions and ideas
was just overwhelming.  Overall,  I believe the majority of us came away from the Winter Meetings with a very positive attitude to begin
2008.  Again thanks for everything you do to promote the Pro Trainers Association and the RHBAA.

Theresa Peluso

Greetings,
By way of introduction, my name is Theresa Peluso and I am a developmental book editor for HCI Books, the publisher of
many New York Times bestsellers and the home of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.  My reason for contacting you
today is to invite you, and other horse lovers you know who enjoy writing or photography, to take advantage of an opportunity
to possibly have your work published in a new book, The Ultimate Horse Lover.

This new title will be released this fall and coauthored by Dr. Marty Becker, our bestselling author who is regularly featured on
ABC-TV's Good Morning America, and was named "Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year" by the American Veterinary
Medical Association.  The Ultimate Horse Lover is unique. Dr. Becker has assembled experts in important fields like nutrition,
dentistry, dermatology, disease, and pain management as trusted, single sources sharing the very best information on their
subject specialties.

That must-know info combined with stories and photos from people with a passion for animals and expressing themselves give
readers everything they need to keep their horse happy and healthy in one entertaining, inspirational book.  I am including
information below about HCI Books and the The Ultimate Horse Lover. Please consider forwarding this invitation to your email list,
posting an announcement on your Web site or including it in your newsletter.  Or, simply click here to share this opportunity with
fellow horse lovers whom you think would be interested.

If you have any questions, please just drop me an email. I hope you'll take me up on this invitation and also consider sharing the
opportunity with colleagues, friends and family. Thank you.
